Spectacular Final Draw World Cup 2010
It was already dark, when a very prominent visitor touched down at Cape Town International Airport. He was welcomed on a red carpet and whisked to the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which has become a prime attraction for any visitor of this beautiful city. This “living harbor” with manyfine eateries, shops, live entertainment, boat excursions and numerous other activities, was the blueprint for other such projects around the world. But back to our mysterious visitor: He is arguably the most important of his kind, as he is pure gold: You might have guessed right already: I mean the trophy of the Soccer World Cup. It weighs 6 kg and is 36.5cm tall.
On December 4, the much anticipated draw of the teams will be held at the modern Cape Town International Conference Centre. The event will be attended by 3000 dignitaries and it will be broadcast to 150 million viewers around the world. As the teams and their nations hold their breath, the pairings will be known shortly after. Then the concrete planning can start. Hotels and guesthouses in the participating cities and around expect a flood of enquiries shortly after that time. The organizers are confident that the country will host the best World Cup ever. Given the natural beauty of the country, the friendliness of her citizens and the other major sporting events, which have been organized so successfully in the past, this seems to be not an unrealistic dream.
